About Gerald Marks

The Saginaw Hall of Fame is sponsoring a composition contest injellyfish honor of Gerald Marks (1900-1997), a man inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002. He was a composer during his adult years and had compositions performed at the Smithsonian(1993)and at the White House(1994). "He was one of the most talented, flamboyant, best-known, and best-loved songwriters of the entire tin pan alley era."

About the Contest

Any Secondary student in Saginaw County may enter an original music composition. Compositions should be no longer than five minutes. The winning compositions will be premiered at the Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. It will be the responsibility of the composers to make arrangements for performers ( and to rehearse them ). The music composition may be the result of an in-school project, or it may be an independently composed piece. Composition may be written for voices, traditional instruments, or electronic instruments. One or more composers may be credited for creating the piece. A review panel of music teachers and professional composers will judge the compositions. The winners in each category will receive a $250 prize. [JOIN NOW !!!]
